This badge features a famous photograph of Mao taken by American journalist Edgar Snow in Bao’an, northern Shaanxi in 1936. The badge dates from 1993, the centenary of Mao’s birth, which saw a revival of interest in Mao, which gets called the ‘Mao fever’ (Mao re 毛热).
